The "Wright" Game For an Esl Class

The "Wright" Game For an Esl Class

Mr. Wright is a great party game for Esl classrooms. It is a fun game for Christmas or any other party occasion. You have to supply a small gift...probably any since your students will want to play more than one game. You should have any scripts available.

Here's how it works...

Go To Thailand

Students stand in a circle facing in. If you have a lot of students, I propose using more than one circle at the same time, though of course that means a gift for each circle. A smaller amount of students works better...perhaps 8 to 10 in a circle. Hand the gift to one of them. (A box works well. Use your judgment). Someone... You or a designated speaker - maybe other teacher, reads the script slowly. Whenever the possessor of the gift hears ' Wright', ' Write, or Right, he or she passes the gift to the student on their right. If they hear the word 'Left', they pass it to the one on their left. When the reader finishes the script, the student retention the gift wins.

Here's a sample script...

Mr. And Mrs. Wright

One Saturday morning, Mr. Wright said to Mrs. Wright, "Why don't we go for a drive in the country."

"That sounds like a Right fine idea, Bill, but Right now I have some cookies in the oven. They have about ten minutes Left. Then, we can be Right out the door. Does that sound all Right?"

"How about the kids?"

"Well, Mary is watching Tv. There's not much time Left in her program so she'll be all Right after that. And Jimmy is Right there. "What are you doing, Jimmy Wright?"

"I'm trying to Write an essay for school."

"Well, you can Write that later, all Right?"

"All Right, mom!"

Mary called from the living room, "I'll be Right there, too, mom."

Soon, Mr. Wright, Mrs. Wright and their two children, Mary and Jimmy Wright were in the car and ready to go. "All Right, which way should we go? Should we turn Left or Right?"

"Let's take a vote!"

"Right! No, I mean, turn Left!"

The others all wanted to turn Right so Right they went.

They only got a block away from their house when Mary said, "Oh-no!  I Left my phone in my room. Can we go back, please, dad?"

"Oh, all Right", said Mr. Wright.

Mary went Right inside and got the phone she had Left. Then, she got Right back in the car; the Wright family got Right back on the road and soon they were Right out in the country. They drove straight through some small towns...Enwright, Cartright and Wainwright.

"Are we going the Right way, Bill?" asked Mrs. Wright.

"I think so. We turned Left at Cartright; then Right at Wainwright and that put us Right onto Highway 47. I think if we keep going, we will come to Wrightbridge. They have a large Saturday market and a great cafeteria Right next to it. We can have a Right good lunch there, all Right?"

Everyone agreed that Mr. Wright had a good plan and so off they went. In Wrightbridge, they found a parking spot Right by the market and spent about an hour or so finding around.

"I'm getting hungry," said Jimmy. "Right! Me, too!" echoed Mary. So the Wright family went Right to the "Eatright' cafeteria and had a wonderful lunch.

"How did you know about this restaurant, dad?"

"Well now, it just happens that it's owned by my cousin..Lefty ."

"Lefty Wright? What a cool name!"

The Wright family enjoyed the rest of the day in the country. When they got home, Jimmy said, "I still have my essay to Write".

Mary said she was going to sit Right down and watch some Tv.

Mrs. Wright said, "I'm tired. Think I'll go Right to bed."

"You go Right ahead. I'll be Right there,' said Mr. Wright. He looked at Mary and Jimmy.

"All Right, Wrights. Good night!"

The End!

Gone is the earlier image of a pastime for strangely dressed eccentric old citizen dressed in woolly hats, hobnail boots, corduroy trousers and tweed jackets. Contemporary outdoor clothing is honestly a multi million pound firm that often has more to do with a fashion statement then practical use.

Cutting through the preverbal crap and pushing fashion statements to one side, lets take an actual look at what is needed for an enjoyable day on the hills. The following Ten Items are essential, not just for comfort but for actual survival and safety.

Go To Thailand

(1) Warm clothing consisting of:- Base layer:- Under shirt or T-shirt, under clothes and Socks. (Thin liner socks and thicker walking socks) Mid layer:- Fleece or woollen top. Trousers or shorts in the summer (Do not wear jeans, they hold water and will freeze on you in Winter. Cotton also holds moisture so avoid. Man made fabrics such as polyester do not hold moisture and dry much quicker.) Outer Layer:- Waterproof Jacket (Breathable is best for comfort.) Waterproof trousers, Hat, Gloves. Sun hat in the summer.

(2) Footwear:- 2 Season boots for Summer, they are light weight, waterproof, slightly flexible and have good ankle support. 3 to 4 Season boots for Winter, they are tough, rigid soles that can take crampons, waterproof with strong ankle support. Avoid footwear without ankle support. Trainers in winter or on wet grass can be lethal.

(3) Rucksack:- 25 to 35 litre rucksack is ideal as a day sack. Pick one that has a breathable back support, hip band and adjustable shoulder straps. The more money you pay the more features the pack will have. For example, wand pockets, camel pack compartment for water container and external waterproof cover. Dont carry unnecessary stuff in the bag, otherwise you may start to regret bringing along the unwanted weight in your bag

(4) Map and Compass:- In the Uk, Explorer maps are ideal, they give excellent information and are clear to follow. Try to pick a detailed map of about two and a half inches to the mile, these show fences and walls that can help as guide lines to follow. Unless the map is laminated, keep it in a waterproof case. Maps will fall apart when wet. There are discrete compasses on the market, however try to get one that has the needle suspended in fluid, such as a Silva Compass. The essential factor is learn how to use a Compass and read a map before venturing onto the hills. Dont rely on just a Gps device. All the time take a map and compass.

(5) security equipment:- Whistle, Torch with spare battery, (Led last longer) First aid kit, Bivvy bag and a spare set of laces. (These can be used whether for your boots or to tie a broken strap) Rope if you are tackling any rock climbs or crossing streams and rivers. Ice axe in Winter.

Alcohol not only dehydrates you it will help to bring on the effects of hypothermia very quickly. honestly digestible foods will get power into your theory much quicker. Bananas and dried fruit are a great source of blood sugar then chocolate.

(7) Plan your Route:- Plan your walk and have an alternative route to use if the weather is poor. Don't take on more then you can cope with. Start with straightforward walks and build up your skills over a duration of time. Build in leave routes into your walk should conditions deteriorate. Tell man where you are going and what time you expect to return. Leave a note in the glove compartment of your car. (8) Check the weather:- Don't leave it to chance. All the time check the weather outlook a few days before you go. Avoid extreme weather conditions such as high winds and lightning. At the first sound of thunder, Get Down. You can survive getting wet, but it is unlikely that you will survive a lightning strike. If you are caught out crouch down on your mat or rucksack at the bottom point you can find, do not hold on to anything metal and wait for the storm to pass.

How to Buy a Dwarf Rabbit

Buying a Dwarf Rabbit

So, you've finally decided on buying a dwarf rabbit! But what should you look for when buying a dwarf rabbit? Are all dwarf bunnies created equal?

Go To Thailand

Choosing the Right Dwarf Bunny

How to Buy a Dwarf Rabbit

First off, how old should the dwarf bunny be? Most citizen firmly believe that 2-3 months is a good time, but older dwarf bunnies can also be exquisite choices, depending on how well they were raised/breeder ability.

Go To Thailand

Where to Get Your Bunny

Before you can even begin to look at dwarf bunnies, you need to know Where to look at dwarf bunnies. There are 2 common, and 2 not so base ways of locating the exquisite dwarf rabbit; let's look at the most base ways first.

You can get your dwarf rabbit from an additional one person. This is probably the cheapest way of doing so. There are abundance of message boards/classified sites selling dwarf bunnies. You can gather a dwarf bunny for - on average, and even free sometimes if the someone is just seeing to get rid of the dwarf rabbits. Drawbacks? No pedigree - you don't know what line the dwarf rabbit comes in, he may have a genetic disease or defect. You don't easily know whatever about the wholesaler at all for that matter - either the dwarf bunny was raised properly, if the dwarf bunny is old adequate - you can only go by what the wholesaler tells you.

A pet store is also an easily accessible option. The pet store dwarf bunnies are probably decently taken care of, and pet shop can ordinarily be trusted to contribute salutary pets (I would assume you're going to a permissible pet store). Dwarf rabbits from pet shop are generally a good buy.

Now let's discuss the 2 less base methods: breeders, and exhibitors. Exhibitor dwarf bunnies are generally show-class dwarf bunnies. For these, you would most likely have to go to a show. This is more luck then anything. You talk to other breeders, see what they have in stock, look at their dwarf bunnies, and negotiate a deal. These are (usually) high class dwarf rabbits, and as such command higher prices.

Finally, we look to breeders. First, check out breeders in your area. Sources are listed at the end of the article. Make sure the breeder is reputable. Look for pedigree's if possible. Breeders (usually) use the best dwarf rabbits they can find to breed, so these types of dwarf rabbits are also top notch. Conclude what color you want - there are many dissimilar options available, and pick one to your liking. If the breeder doesn't have it in stock, email back frequently, asking what they expect to have in the advent weeks. Here, you're basically trusting the breeder, but if you've done your research, you'll probably come out a winner.

Traits to Look For in a Dwarf Rabbit

At last! It's time to finally pick out your new friend! Obviously, look at how salutary the dwarf bunny is. Never pick up a dwarf bunny by the ears. It makes him/her sad inside. When you pick up the dwarf bunny, use Both hands: one hand under, and one hand cupping the dwarf rabbit's butt (and slightly under). The idea here is to preserve it's rear end, and to try to minimize any injury the dwarf bunny may cause by kicking.

If at all possible, check the dwarf rabbit's droppings. They should be hard and solid. Checking the rear end of the dwarf bunny, it should have no stains (which may be a sign of diarrhea). One neutered male dwarf rabbit would be ideal, or two female dwarf bunnies.

You might be wondering, what is the ideal age to buy a dwarf bunny? Well, the dwarf bunnies are arguably cutest when they're in the middle of 5-7 weeks old. Unfortunately, that's also one of the worst times to buy a dwarf bunny. Slight defects now may grow into big ones later. While this may not be foremost for most owners, if you're seeing for a show class dwarf bunny, approximately 4 months would be the ideal timeframe to buy a dwarf bunny.

Loy Krathong Festival in Chiang Mai 2009

Loy Krathong Festival in Chiang Mai 2009 Tube. Duration : 5.70 Mins.

The world famous Loy Krathong Festival in Thailand this year took place between 1st & 3rd of November 2009 with the main day being the Full Moon night of November 2nd! The Loy Krathong festival always takes place on the first full-moon night of the twelfth lunar month. The custom of placing hand-made floats decorated with flowers and candles on waterways is believed to go back over 700 years to the Sukhothai Historical Period ,which was the formulative period for what became Siam & today is modern day Thailand. The word Loy means to float and Krathong is a small vessel made from banana leaves which can float on water. A candle is placed in the krathong, along with incense sticks and small coins. A wish is then made and the krathong is sent floating down the river. This act is seen as a symbolic gesture of gratitude to the Mother River the source of water without which we could not survive. Thai belief is that floating the beautiful Krathong away also refers to sending away misfortune and bad things from the past and asking for good luck & fortune in the future. In Northern Thailand the Loy Krathong festival which is also known as Yee Peng is particularly spectacular & is celebrated for two nights under the full moon. The celebrations in & around Chiang Mai include the release of thousands of Khom Loys (paper hot air floating lanterns) into the night sky all over the city, this really is a not to be missed event and is the feature of the video above.
